God is looking for those who will serve Him. He wants to use us in these uncertain times to bring hope, to bring Jesus, to others. How will God use you? Do you think it is impossible for God to use you? Many mighty people of old thought the same and yet God used them in ways they never thought possible.
Is It Impossible For God To Use You?
Do you think your past will make it impossible for God to use you? Look at Moses. He was a murderer, on the run, when God told him he would be the deliverer of God's people from the hand of Pharoah. Look at Rahab. A prostitute, who God used to save His people. She is in the lineage of Jesus. Look at Paul. He hunted Christians down but became a great missionary for God.
Do you think you are not a good speaker? Again, look at Moses. Moses had problems speaking in front of people so God told him that his brother Aaron would speak for him. God solved the problem, not Moses.
Do you think you are too weak, physically or spiritually? Look at Gideon. From the smallest of the tribes, a man not known in anyway as a leader, but God would raise him up to be a mighty man of valor.
Do you think you have no influence in society or with the people around you? Look at Mary. Look at the disciples. Mary was a young girl, of no importance in the eyes of society and yet God chose her to be the mother of His Son. The disciples, who were they? Fisherman mostly. Uneducated, poor, not influential in anyway, but Jesus would use them to bring His word to the world.
Do you think you are too young? Look at David. The youngest of his father's children. The most unlikely of them all to be King of Israel and yet God had a plan for this young man because he was a man after God's own heart.
Do you think you are too old? Look at Abraham. Abraham had to wait till he and his wife were old, long past their prime, to see the fulfillment of God's promise to have a son.
His Will God Use You?
How will God use you? How were these people able to be used so powerfully by God? Because as Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 12: 9,
"And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
When we think we can do great things for God in our own strength it becomes impossible for God to use us. We have to realize that compared to God our abilities, our wisdom, our intelligence is nothing. We have to realize that if we have any of those things it was given to us by our Maker to glorify Him. Paul goes on to say in 2 Corinthians 12:10 that it is when he is weak that he is actually the strongest!
Our Strength Comes From God
As Paul says in I Corinthians 1: 26,
"For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called."
Can God use the wise, the mighty and the noble, of course, but few of them are called, chosen, because they fail to see their need for God. Is God saying that it is better to be unwise, poor or uneducated? No. However, those who are like that, are more likely to rely on God for their strength. Paul himself was a very educated man but he recognized his strength came from God. Our strength comes from God today as well.
Don't Believe The Lies Of Satan
Satan often attacks us by pointing out our weaknesses and our failures. Can't you hear the Devil whispering in your ear, "Look what you did. God can't use you."; "You're a nobody. God can't use you."; or "Why even try. You know you'll fail.". Satan is a liar. God uses us when we acknowledge our weaknesses and ask Him to fill us with the power of His Holy Spirit. It is God working through us that accomplishes His will, not our own strength, wisdom or abilities.
Like the words of the beautiful old hymn, "Have Thine Own Way, Lord" (1906, Pollard) say so well,
Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Hold o'er my being
absolute sway.
Fill with thy Spirit
till all shall see
Christ only, always,
living in me!
